MALAYSIA’S first licensed nationwide (Internet of Things) IoT network and solutions provider, Xperanti IoT (M) Sdn Bhd officially launched on Nov 13 at Sunway iLabs.

Xperanti has deployed a nationwide purpose-built industrial IoT network. In a mission to become Malaysia’s preferred IoT solutions enabler, Xperanti has partnered with Sigfox, a French company in which Khazanah Nasional Bhd holds a minority stake. Sigfox is a wireless network company with an IoT enablement network deployed in 54 countries around the world.

Present at the launch ceremony was French Ambassador to Malaysia, Frédéric Laplanche: “This is news that will change the industrial environment of this country. It provides one more reason to invest in Malaysia because now there is an IoT-enabled environment for investment in this country.”

This partnership offers businesses and consumers the opportunity to subscribe to Sigfox’s communications services with nationwide coverage, including all urban and industrial areas, main transport and communication systems and any other area based on demand.

Sigfox Asia Pacific president Roswell Wolff, said that Malaysia is now connected to the 54 other countries as part of the Sigfox global network.

“Sigfox views Malaysia as a strategic market for IoT given its strengths in agriculture, raw materials, manufacturing and technology developments, as well as being a regional logistics hub connecting China with Southeast Asia and beyond.”

As a local partner, Xperanti aims to enable Malaysian enterprises to develop purpose-built IoT solutions that are practical and scalable and supports the adoption of Industry 4.0, particularly in key sectors such as agriculture, transportation and logistics, manufacturing, utilities, oil and gas and aviation.

The founder of Xperanti, Nallen Singhe said, “The network is built and designed to enable cost effective and sustainable IoT solutions for our ecosystem of partners to support Industry 4.0. We are here and have already deployed this nationwide purpose-built IoT network with over 80% nationwide coverage.”

Earlier this year, Xperanti also signed an MoU with Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) with the aim of assimilating Industry 4.0 into the aviation industry.

At the launch, Radin Asrul Adza, general manager of Information Technology Division of MAHB said, “We want passengers to feel the touch of personalisation and connectivity in our airports, from scheduling, to process automation, to basics like cleanliness and efficiency. Hopefully, we can be an example to other organisations in Malaysia with regards to the value of IoT technology.”

As for other industries Xperanti has its sights on transforming, the chief operating officer, Vicks Kanagasingam believes agriculture and manufacturing to be key industries.

“It’s part of the government’s initiative to promote agriculture. Manufacturing is also very exciting with our prime minister recently saying we should be a nation of makers rather than a nation of users.”
